Red is the Helvetica of colours

Saw this in London recently. Not the best spelling, but a valid observation nonetheless. The construction fence it was sprayed on was painted solid red – more than anyone would need for warning purposes.

Nice handwriting though, if you can call it that.

Quite. And we’d probably spell overrated in one word, wouldn’t you (I’m German, after all)?

I guess you should change the colour of your blog then..

Nice contrast though blue and red. Also, interesting graffiti commentary, most graffiti in America is people saying U R dumb, or drawings of genitalia

@ Erik:
when it comes to colour, i am a Helvetica person. I really cannot work with colour, so i keep to the typographic ones: black, white and red.

And i am thinking of changing the red on my blog!

Incorrect spelling adds character to graffiti. It's probably a commentary on the people who do it, more than anything.

It should read:

"Red is an over-rated colour."

When are these damn vandals going to learn how to spell?

Couldn’t it be without the hyphen:
overrated. As in overtaken? Or is that my Germanic way of thinking?

red is overrated, unless it's on a woman!
